Welcome back class of 2012!

What did you do over the summer?

One of the highlights of my summer was attending "Making the Wright Connection" at the University of Kansas. I was awarded a fellowship through the National Endowment for the Humanities that allowed me to study with the world's most renowned Richard Wright scholars and his daughter, Julia Wright. Richard Wright is most famous for writing Black Boy, Native Son, and Uncle Tom's Children. Richard Wright was born in Mississippi, but spent 10 years in Chicago. Wright was an amazing man and writer who greatly influenced American literature and society.

I also spent quite a bit of time in my backyard grilling, gardening, and hanging out with family and friends. I've accidently turned into my mom because I've found a new love for taking care of my lawn; I water it twice a day, sometime three times. I'm old, that's what old people do.
